Construction Information
Tuesday, December 23: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is working with utility partners to complete advance relocations needed to allow the construction of the Benning Road Bridges and Transportation Improvements Project. Over the coming months, residents and commuters will see utility work zones in multiple locations on Benning Road NE between 34th Street NE and Minnesota Avenue NE.
Beginning on Tuesday, December 23, PEPCO will implement single lane closure on westbound Benning Road between 39th St NE and Minnesota Ave NE. The closure is required to allow construction of relocated PEPCO manholes and conduits.
Traffic controls, including signage information, will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area. DDOT urges all travelers to stay alert, follow posted signage, and use caution near the construction zone. The posted lane closures are needed for construction activities associated with the Benning Road Bridges and Transportation Improvements Project.
A Request from Councilmember Felder's Office re: Snow Removal
As winter weather continues to impact Ward 7, Councilmember Felder's office is asking for your partnership in identifying locations where snow removal has not been adequately addressed, particularly when city street cleaning or snow operations may have been missed or delayed.
If you observe sidewalks, curb cuts, bus stops, senior-heavy blocks, or other high-priority areas requiring snow or ice removal, please share those locations with Letisha Vinson (lvinson@dccouncil.gov) as soon as possible so they can coordinate with the appropriate District agencies.
