River Terrace Recreation Center Survey
The Department of Parks and Recreation is excited to deliver a community center in the River Terrace neighborhood of Ward 7. The recreation center will be located at the corner of Eads Street NE and 36th St NE.
DPR is excited to hear feedback from the community throughout the design and construction process. To kick off the project, DPR wants to learn more about the immediate community’s goals for amenities and uses of the site. Share your input with DPR by filling out the survey below. Construction Updates
● River Terrace Street Repaving: A number of streets are going to be repaved as part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Pave DC initiative. Milling and paving of a roadway generally takes 3-5 days to complete, weather permitting. The estimated start date for each location is tabulated below. Construction at each location will begin on or about the estimated start date. In order to complete the work, it is necessary to move any parked vehicles from the work zone. As such, all vehicles must be moved by the time posted on the posted “Emergency No Parking” (ENP) signs. ENP signs will be posted at least 72 hours before work is set to begin. Vehicles that are not removed will be ticketed and towed. The owner will be responsible for the fee associated with the citation. To follow DDOT’s paving schedule in real time, visit ddot.dc.gov/pavedc. If you have any questions or concerns, please call (202) 671-2700.

● December 8: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement an overnight closure of the right travel lane on I-295 Southbound between 9:00 pm and 3:00 am south of Suitland Parkway beginning December 8, 2025. Additionally, I-295 will be fully closed for periods of 15 minutes intermittently throughout the night. Traffic controls, including advanced signage for the lane closures, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone.
The intermittent closures will be performed with the assistance of the Maryland State Police (MSP). DDOT urges all travelers to stay alert, follow posted signage, follow police guidance, and use caution near the construction zone. Work will take place over two nights and is weather-dependent. The lane and road closures are necessary for the removal and replacement of a digital overhead message sign spanning across all travel lanes.
● December 10: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will implement an overnight closure of the right travel lane on I-295 Northbound between 9:00 pm and 3:00 am at the Maryland Line. Additionally, I-295 will be fully closed for periods of 15 minutes intermittently throughout the night. Traffic controls, including advanced signage for the lane closures, will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone.

Leaf Collection
According to the leaf tracker, there are still some streets that haven't had leaves picked up yet. Check the tracker to see the status of your street, and call 311 if your street is green on this map but was missed.
