Hi neighbors,

Several of you joined me last week at the DDOT Benning Bridges Transportation Project meeting and shared some concerns you have about several aspects of the project. Two that stand out are:

1. the plan to move the 295 S exit ramp from Baker to Alden
2. the lack of consideration for how this project will be impacted by having RFK stadium just down the road

Based on what I heard from many of you both during and after the meeting, I drafted two letters that you can use as a starting point to contact our elected officials and the relevant agencies. Please feel free to copy and paste the text into an email, make any edits you’d like, and send it to the email addresses listed at the top of each letter:

  1. Letter regarding the relocation of the 295 ramp
  2. Letter about the lack of planning for RFK traffic when designing the new bridge

The more messages our representatives receive, the more likely it is that our concerns will be taken seriously.

Speaking of being heard, there are still several DC Council Performance Oversight Hearings where you can submit testimony. If you’re not able to attend in person, please consider submitting written testimony instead. It’s an easy and effective way to make sure your voice is part of the public record. I have already submitted testimony to the Judiciary and Public Safety meeting to ask that MPD stop working with ICE and other unidentified federal agents.

Finally, one of our neighbors on Anacostia Ave, Claude McKay, is hosting an open house with Dyana Forester, candidate for DC Council At Large. Stop by on Saturday to learn about Dyana and her campaign:

Have a nice week!
Katie
