November 10, 2025

Hello everyone,

This week, I want to highlight that East of the River Mutual Aid is looking for new volunteers for both in-person work (delivering food, packing bags, or shopping) and virtual work (coordinating drivers, grant writing, hotline operation). I volunteered as a driver with them and delivered food to six households each week. This is a great way to directly support our our neighbors. If you have some time to give, this is an incredible organization to connect with.

Register here for their next virtual open house to learn more - November 17 from 7-8 PM.

EOTR Mutual Aid is also running a winter coat drive fundraiser that you can donate to here.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about volunteering!

Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Beginning November 20, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., residents may schedule an appointment to apply for ERAP by calling 202-507-6666 or by visiting the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center (VWFRC).

Applications by Appointment Only: DHS is transitioning to an appointment-based scheduling system. District residents may call 202-507-6666 to schedule an appointment. This change allows the program to accept and process applications from residents who meet eligibility requirements at the time of their appointment. It also enables the program to provide real-time updates on funding availability, helping us anticipate when funds may be depleted and inform clients before their application is submitted. By implementing this approach, we also expect a reduction in the number of appeals.

Visit erap.dhs.dc.gov for more information.
