October 13, 2025 Newsletter

Hello neighbors,

Quick reminder: since today is Indigenous People's Day, all trash/recycling pickup will slide to the next day. If your trash is usually picked up on Tuesday, this week it will be picked up on Wednesday.

As the government shutdown continues, I want to share some resources for anyone who has been impacted:

I also have a page on this site for Resident Resources - check out the Food page for additional food giveaways and information about signing up for grocery delivery with EOTR Mutual Aid.

I've also seen a bunch of discounted food deals at local restaurants, but this is one of the few free offers I've seen:

If you know of any other programs you'd like me to share with the neighborhood, please feel free to email me the details so I can include them in the next newsletter.

Thanks,
Katie

Construction Projects

  1. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will remove 80 feet of current unregulated residential parking space on the west side of the 300 - 399 BLOCK OF 34TH STREET NE converting the space to 80 feet of NO STANDING OR PARKING ANYTIME METRO BUS ZONE. Do not stand or park within 80 feet of a bus stop sign. This allows buses to reach the curb, where they can remove themselves from the travel lane and drop off passengers with mobility issues onto the sidewalk. This improves the ability of pedestrians to see oncoming traffic and increases the distance from which motorists can see pedestrians in the crosswalk. All comments on this subject matter must be filed in writing by November 24th (thirty business days after the date of this notice), with the District Department of Transportation, Curbside Management Division, 250 M Street, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20003, or by emailing ddot.parking@dc.gov. If you would like to check the status of this Notice of Intent (NOI), please visit DDOT’s website at https://ddotwiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NI/overview.
