September 15, 2025 Newsletter

Hello everyone,

I hope to see you all this Wednesday at the River Terrace Community Organization meeting. I've heard from many of you already on this matter, but we will have some time in person for discussion about how we would like to respond to the Director of the DC National Guard's offer to pick up trash in the neighborhood.

Most of you are opposed to inviting them into the neighborhood. Many other Single Member Districts have already signed a letter declining their offer.

Please think about this carefully and come with your ideas.

I look forward to talking with you more about this on Wednesday,
Katie

Meeting location: Varick Memorial AME Zion Church (455 Anacostia Ave NE)

ANC Resolutions Passed Last Week in 7D

My colleagues and I in 7D passed two resolutions in our monthly meeting last week that were written by a group I'm part of: the ANC Home Rule Caucus. The ANC Home Rule Caucus coordinates advocacy across commissions in defense of DC home rule. The caucus presently counts approximately 75 members District-wide. These are the resolutions 7D passed:

  1. Condemning Federal Overreach in District of Columbia Policing and Demanding the Immediate Return of Local Funds
  2. Regarding the Identifiability of Federal Agents and Officers Operating in the District of Columbia

You can read the text of those resolutions here.

Sign the Petition: Don't Cut Down RFK's Heritage Trees

Join us in calling on the DC Council to rescind the waiver provision that exempts these trees from the Heritage Tree Law and to preserve as many of the trees as possible by incorporating them into the RFK campus design. The final vote on the RFK stadium legislation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17.
