Hi neighbors,

I have quite a few events and updates to share with you this week!

  1. This Saturday, September 5 is River Terrace Day! Please join us at the park to enjoy food and neighbors from noon to 6 PM.
  2. For the Labor Day holiday, there will be a one-day slide for trash, recycling, and compost pickup. If you usually put out your trash on Monday evening for pickup on Tuesday, next week you'll put it out on Tuesday evening for Wednesday pickup.
  3. RFK Quarterly Meeting with Events DC: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the auditorium of St. Coletta of Greater Washington (1901 Independence Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003). This is an opportunity for the community to meet leadership at Events DC, learn about Events DC venue's events and updates and share questions and concerns. Please complete the registration, as you will have to check in with security when arriving.
  4. The River Terrace Garden Tour has officially been scheduled for Sunday, October 4 from 2:30-5:00 PM. Add it to your calendars now - a signup link will be coming soon!
  5. I met with the DC Responsible Rat Management team last week to learn more about lowering the rat population in River Terrace. The most impactful thing we can do to prevent rats from breeding is: removing their access to food. Please consider joining the city food waste collection program to keep food waste out of your regular trash bins. Also, please ensure your trash cans aren't broken and if they are, call 311 to get them replaced or fixed!
  6. Councilmember Felder's Office has announced dates for Ward 7 Week! Sign up for events here:
    Ward 7 Week: Bike Ride
    Ward 7 Week: Dog Paw-ty!
    Talk and Taco!
Felder's Fund for Constituent Services Party
    Happy Hour & Trivia Night
    3X3 Basketball Tournament
    Community Day

Have a nice week and Labor Day Weekend!
Katie
