Election Day: November 3
You should have received your ballots by mail already. If you'd rather vote early in person, early vote centers in the District will be open from Monday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 1 between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. Find vote center locations here. Voters may cast their ballots at any voting location, regardless of their residential address.
Community Concerns About RFK Stadium’s Energy Plans
The Washington Commanders’ preliminary plans for the new RFK stadium may include a natural gas-fired power plant, raising concerns about air pollution and public health in nearby Ward 7 neighborhoods. The 51st recently reported that the team is preparing to seek an exemption from D.C.’s restrictions on fossil fuels in new construction. Currently, a 2022 law bans the inclusion of such infrastructure in city-backed projects.
On Wednesday, October 21 at 10:30 AM, a coalition of community and environmental organizations will hold a press conference at Triangle Park (21st and D Streets NE) calling on the Commanders to rule out gas and prioritize clean energy alternatives, including solar power and battery storage.
As the redevelopment moves forward, residents deserve transparency, clean air, and a commitment to the District’s environmental standards. Join if you're available, or write to Councilmember Felder to share your opinion about this.

Time: 6:00 pm–8:00 pm
Location: Maketto, 1351 H Street NE, Washington, DC
Join us for drinks and community on H St! Families are welcomed and encouraged to attend. We’ll have some crafts and games on hand for our younger guests. We expect we’ll be by the first floor bar.

DC 2050
During the latest round of engagement, The Office of Planning heard that residents want to understand how we can add more housing and what different housing options can look like in neighborhoods across the District.
Over the next three months, they will respond to this feedback by sharing our planning analysis and research, including what we’re seeing in other cities. They will host neighborhood walking tours to explore examples of places in the District that have a mix of housing. They will also host virtual office hours as opportunities for interaction with OP staff.
They invite you to attend the first iteration of this event series this fall:
- Neighborhood tour #1: 11 am – 1 pm, October 24, 2026, at the Northeast Neighborhood Library. Register online.
- Virtual office hours #1: 12 – 1 pm, October 28, 2026. Register online.
These events will include live ASL interpretation. To request language assistance or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability, please complete this form at least 5 days before the event. If you have any questions, contact the Office of Planning at op.access@dc.gov or 202-442-7600.
