DC Natives Fundraiser in River Terrace - This Friday, June 26

You've probably seen the many native pollinator gardens in yards across River Terrace that have been planted by DC Natives (they usually have a little butterfly sign somewhere in the middle of them), and now you can support their mission! DC Natives is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) org that has helped over 400 neighbors build pollinator gardens across the city.

You can buy a ticket to the June 26th Happy Hour Fundraiser in River Terrace (or make a donation if unable to attend). Come have a few botanical drinks and snacks, buy some local honey and meet some honeybees, and chat with the team from DC Natives. Also, you can click on the auction tab on the link above to pre-order a tray of pollinator plant plugs (small plants) for fall planting. Flower tray sales proceeds go to DC Natives.

July 4 Fireworks in Anacostia Park

This year, the National Park Service will launch its annual 4th of July fireworks from Anacostia Park as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration! Because the fireworks will be staged and launched from the park, enhanced safety and security measures will be in place.

National Park Service and U.S. Park Police will share associated road closure information. Please note the following impacts:

  • A portion of the park near Poplar Point will be closed before and during the event to maintain safe launch and viewing areas.
  • Areas of the park that remain open will have added security, including fencing and screening at entry points.
  • Law enforcement presence will increase in and around the park on the day of the event.
