Alley Construction Update:
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin construction today, June 29. This work will take approximately 8-12 weeks to complete. This construction site is located within an alley located between 35th St and 34th Pl NE and Clay St and Dix St NE. The work will include reconstruction of the existing alley by installing an underdrain system and permeable pavement which will allow rainwater to filter through and reduce surface runoff. Construction activities will also include drainage improvements, utility adjustments, tree protection, erosion and sediment control measures, and new pavement markings.
If weather conditions, schedule changes, or unforeseen issues do not permit our contractor to begin this work on the date stated above, the new start date for construction will be listed on the “EMERGENCY NO PARKING” signs posted throughout the construction project site. RFK Master Plan Public Webinar

The 51st is a worker-led nonprofit local news source for D.C. They believe that all D.C. residents deserve a more equitable and just place to live, and their reporting is rooted in our conviction that local journalism is meant to make people’s lives better. The 51st sees journalism as a public service and a public good. They believe local news should be informed by the needs of the community and there should be open lines of communication for input and accountability.
