May 25, 2026
Hi neighbors,
Just a few quick updates this week:
• Due to the Memorial Day holiday, all trash, recycling, and food waste will slide one day. If you normally have your trash picked up on Tuesday morning, it will be picked up on Wednesday this week.
• If you haven't registered to vote, you can register here online until May 26. After May 26, you can register to vote in person during early voting or on election day.
• DDOT has issued a Traffic Advisory announcing the temporary closure of the Independence Avenue SE to C Street NE Connector Loop Road, which will go into effect on June 16, 2026. This temporary closure is necessary to support construction activities associated with the new stadium and broader RFK Campus development.
• Energy Action Summit - Community Day 2 (Friday, May 27): The District of Columbia Energy Action Summit is a two-day event dedicated to addressing rising energy costs and expanding access to consumer assistance. After a full day of high-level policy discussions on Day One, we are taking the energy conversation out of the conference room and into the community. Day Two bridges the gap between policy and direct neighborhood impact. Come hang out, meet your neighbors, and enjoy some great entertainment as we officially kick off the Summer Ready DC campaign. Whether you're looking for practical ways to save money on your next utility bill or just want a fun Friday night out with the family, there is something here for everyone!
• Health Resource Fair (June 6): Join us for the 2nd Annual Health & Resource Fair — a free, community-centered event focused on wellness, connection, and access to critical resources for residents and families of all ages. This event brings together local agencies, service providers, and community organizations to help neighbors access support, learn about available programs, and engage in a day of health, education, and fun.
